13 December 2009 - SIME DARBY Nursing and Health Sciences College has got it perfectly right.
In the recent Nursing Board Registration exams, students of Diploma in Nursing scored a 100 per cent pass rate.
"The conducive environment and supporting facilities further fuel the thirst for knowledge among our students," remarks college CEO Shanaz Mawji.
For practice, the students are attached to Sime Darby Medical Centre Subang Jaya (SDMC), a 400-bed tertiary care hospital. The Medical Centre practices healthcare standards that are recognised internationally and was recently accredited to the Joint Commission International (JCI) standards.
Students are also exposed to a sophisticated patient! customer feedback mechanism allowing them to understand the unique needs of patients.
"To meet their unique learning needs, our students have been given a great deal of support in the form of full scholarships, learning materials, facilities and accommodation. Financial assistance like PTPTN loans as well as assistance with EPF withdrawals are also available for self-sponsored students," says Shanaz.
Upon successful completion of their training, selected students have the opportunity to work at the Sime Darby Healthcare establishment.
"Our students get ready placements anywhere in the healthcare industry and are sought after both locally and abroad." Intakes for both the Diploma in Nursing and Medical Lab Technology programmes are in January, April, July and September.
